Introduction to
The Option Method

Beliefs don't happen to me - I choose them

This is a profound shift which is not only an intellectual insight, but a whole body revelation. We

The Option Method by Bruce Di Marsico is a profoundly transformative self-inquiry process. The Method consists of 5 simple questions which lead us directly from our emotional stuckness to the underlying core beliefs of self-mistrust and disempowerment.

By uncovering and questioning these beliefs, we re-discover the basic goodness at the core of our being and the sense of empowerment that follows from it.

Situation

Belief

Feeling

Pretty much everyone lives by the assumption that their feelings are caused by situations. Under that premise, there's no other way to feel better than to change the situation or people which "make" us feel bad. Considering our very limited power over things and people, this is a very disempowering and quite manipulative view.

According to the The Option Method, feelings are not caused by situations, but by our beliefs about the situation. Only if we believe that something is "bad", we feel bad about it. Therefore, by questioning our beliefs, we can directly change our feelings. This doesn't only empowers us, but also frees up tremendous energy to actually make a change.

The 5 Questions of The Option Method

1. What are you feeling bad about?

Alternatively: What are you stressed about? What are you unhappy about? What's bothering you?

2. What about that makes you feel bad?

Alternatively: What's the worst about it? What's the worst that could happen? What you mean by saying XY?

3. Why do you feel bad about that?

Alternatively: Which reason do you have to feel bad in that situation? Why do you believe that?

4. What would it mean, if you didn't feel bad about that?

Alternatively: What am I afraid would happen, if I were not unhappy about that? If I wouldn't believe that anymore, what would be at stake?

5. Does it have to mean that?

Alternatively: Why do I believe that? If I don't want to become like that, why do I believe that I will become like that?
